Tomorrow's Ballots

Here are samples of the ballots for tomorrow:

Democrat Ballot
Republican Ballot

If you are voting on the Republican ballot you can also vote for delegates. Can someone explain to me how that works? Why isn't it the same with the Democrats?

I wonder how many people will vote for candidates who already dropped out of the race?

Republicans vote for delegates on the public ballot; Democratic Party rules are different, and they nominate delegates through party conventions. The Hamilton County Democrats' convention is this Saturday.

Both methods have their merits, and their problems. The Republicans' method makes for a lengthy and confusing ballot. The Democrats' method can have the air of "insider advantage" or "good ol' boy network."

But to answer your question as to why they are different, it's just based on party rules.
